2026 AMO Racing Advancement Announcement

Advancement in motocross, regardless of class, is a remarkable achievement. It signifies more than just moving up a level; it represents countless hours of hard work, unwavering dedication, and a fierce determination to push your limits. Earning your spot through skill and perseverance is a testament to your commitment to the sport.

Congratulations to Our Advancing Riders!

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the riders who have advanced to the next level for the 2025 season! Your commitment and loyalty to AMO Motocross are deeply appreciated. We recognize the sacrifices you’ve made and the effort you’ve invested to reach this milestone. We wish you the best of luck in the upcoming season. Keep pushing, keep striving, and keep achieving!

Here’s a summary of the AMO rules governing advancement. Please take note of these guidelines:

1. Combined Upgrade Points: Riders participating in multiple classes will have their upgrade points combined.

  • Beginner to Junior: 10 points
  • Junior to Intermediate: 20 points
  • Intermediate to Pro: 40 points
  • Intermediates earning a national MRC/Triple Crown Pro number move to Pro regardless of points.

2. Point Allocation:

In classes with fewer than 6 riders:

  • 1st place: 3 points
  • 2nd place: 1 point
  • Full points are awarded in classes with 6 or more riders.
  • Full Upgrade points per event:
  • 1st overall: 5 points
  • 2nd overall: 3 points
  • 3rd overall: 2 points
  • 4th overall: 1 point

3. Point Reset: Riders who do not meet the required point totals will have all upgrade points reset at the start of the new season.

4. Walton Grand National: The top 3 overall finishers in the Junior and Intermediate classes at the Walton Grand National will automatically advance to the next class.

Important Rule Updates:

  • ****What was new for 2021 was that Open beginner riders earning the regular advancement (10 points) got bumped but also a racer who earned 100 total series points.
  • **** What was new in 2021 was the Youth Beg/Jun class adding advancement points to the system. ****What was New for 2021 were the top 10 racers in True North Fleet AMO OPC ending Series points in 65 B 7-11 Open get bumped into their age group for the following year. The 65 7-9 or 10-11 class.
  • *** What was NEW in 2022 was any 50 7-8 or 50 4-8 GP racers finishing top 10 in the True North Fleet OPC series points are not permitted to run 65B 7-11 the following year
  • ***NEW for 2024 65B Racers are allowed to race ECAN or Walton Raceway Grand National TrasnCan in their 65 age class if the class has space (65B racers DO NOT COLLECT ANQ POINTS AT AMO EVENTS). No matter the finish they are automatically moved up at year’s end. Any racer who does choose to take advantage of this rule is allowed to finish their current year in the OPC championship series. If a 65B racer wants to race the equivalent age class at an AMO event, they void their “B” status.
