This new addition to AMO for members only is a chance to hear your voice, understand who you are, and focus on the 2021 race plan. In a sense, each AMO member is a sponsor of what AMO does. We’re constantly trying to find more support, find sponsors, money, prizes, and whatever I can to enhance the experience for the member. By doing that we sometimes forget the member is the biggest supporter.

Without racers and the families that support them, AMO, facilities/tracks, shops, manufacturers, and more wouldn’t be able to survive. So this FOCUS idea is for the member to just share some fun, answer some questions, promote their sponsors, and allow all of us to get a little more personalized to each AMO member.

Thank you to each member as we head into the 2021 season.

AMO – Focus: James Ross

1. Where are you from and your birthdate?

– I’m from Toronto – right down-town King and Bathurst Born Dec 12, 1978 (42)

2. What bike do you race and what’s your race #?

– I race a modified 2020 Yamaha YZ125 number #476 – the under dog!

3. What are your goals for 2021 in the AMO Series

– I’m looking to gain a top 10 finish in Open Vet 40, Premix or Open Beginner

– Not entirely sure what classes to race..

4. Who is your favorite Canadian Racer?

– I really like Sam Gaynor.  We were always at gophers when he was practicing and that kid really moves! He’s super humble and very friendly.

– All the GDR guys are awesome too (We love that place)

5. If you found a wallet at the track with $100 inside what would you do with it?

– At this point I would just return the whole thing with the money.  I’ve lost a few high valued things in the past and have had some returned and it’s such a relief.  I’d like to pay that forward.

6. What is your favorite AMO track or any other track?

– For racing / fitness goals and training I find gopher dunes our go-to

– For all out fun, training and excitement Im heading to Motopark

7. Have you ever raced the Walton Transcan Grand National championship? If yes, how did it go and how was your experience?

– I raced Walton a number of years ago – can’t remember if it was the trans can or not.  I was battling for 3rd in my class and I crashed out snapping my bars in half – so that sucked but overall it was tons of fun.  I really liked the experience and the track was amazing.  I plan on racing it this season.

8. How many in your family race?

– Motocross it’s just my brother and I (Kevin) – but I come from a big competitive family of skiers and snowboarders.

9. If there was one thing you could change about the sport of motocross, what would that be?

– I’d love to see more municipalities more open minded to new facilities in their zoning structures.  We all need to promote the sport and support the few that operate and manage these facilities – I am so thankful we have such a great scene here is SWO.  It’s always a scary topic hearing about places closing down – generally just tired of fighting the city to remain open.

10. Who are your 2021 sponsors?

– No motocross sponsors but I have a few companies I support worth mentioning.

– MP1 Suspension – Mike has been amazing to deal and consider him a friend

– MotoMech – Same with Davin, he’s been super helpful all things related

– Ryno Power Canada – Their products really do make a difference in training and at the track – Love their rider support so maybe for 2022!

– The whole team at GDR is just awesome!  I love the history of their facility and continued support for motocross racing in Ontario.

– Motopark Training facility is also phenomenal – we love it there

– AMO – Im a new member this year and won the 200member entry package for the Trans Canada race – special thanks to TTK Transport for supporting us!

Thanks Ryan – looking forward to getting this race season going!
